Resident Evil Requiem PC Review (Spoiler free)
This game… wow man.
First of all, the graphics. Some of the best visuals, character models, animations, and environments I’ve ever seen. My poor RX 6600 handled it flawlessly, which is honestly impressive.
From the moment I started playing, the game had its hooks on me and never let go. It feels like the developers took everything great from Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3, refined and elevated the combat from Resident Evil 4, infused it with the pure horror atmosphere of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and even sprinkled in some of the fast-paced chaos from Resident Evil 6. Mixture on steroids.
Music is also top tier.
There wasn’t a single dull moment. That constant engagement, that almost magical feeling is something I usually only experience with FromSoftware games. It’s rare, nowadays.
I’ve never really been a big fan of survival horror games, which makes it even crazier that the survival segments with Grace felt fair, balanced, and genuinely enjoyable to me. The tension worked. Had a couple of massive scares. This isn’t just an action-heavy psychological survival horror game. It tells a coherent, meaningful story. Longtime Resident Evil fans will definitely appreciate the nostalgic, emotional throwbacks.
Combat, is top notch and it will differ from a badass Leon to a fragile and more tactical Grace. That difference in playstyle adds depth and variety. Lots of easter eggs and details that I have probably missed.
A couple of gripes I have with the game, are actually minor. I didn't like how the item management system was implemented on Leon's side, but actually felt correct when it comes to Grace. Requiem ammo is scarce with Leon since he cannot craft it. Had a couple of crashes that would restart my whole PC, but realized it was on AMD side, despite latest drivers that added support for Resident Evil Requiem.
All things considered, Resident Evil/Biohazard Requiem is a magnificent achievement. It stands as a benchmark for how to craft a game with care, detail, and genuine passion. Visually and technically, it’s a masterpiece of optimization.
Other developers, especially those working with Unreal Engine 5, should take notes. I’m still amazed at how masterfully this game was put together.
Capcom, how dare you? You’ve set the bar incredibly high, and somehow, you outdid yourselves. Brilliant Masterpiece.
